The Traditional Maltese Door
It’s difficult to describe the traditional Maltese door, because while they do share common characteristics, each one is so very different when one looks closely.
It’s the combination of key elements which make each door so unique and individual.
The door design – from plain and simple, to ornate and complemented with wrought iron works, dull greys or light pastel colors to vibrant Mediterranean colors.
The stonework which encases the doors is another major contributor to the uniqueness of the Maltese doors. Sculpted stonework, stone pillars, from classical to art deco style.
The ‘accessories’ – these include the door knockers (the ‘Habbata’), the decorative key holes and the house names. Pots and plants add that splash of color and a welcoming touch of hospitality.
This collection of lovely doors from all over Malta is artistically styled to look like a water color painting with added brush splashes of Mediterranean color for a pleasant canvas or poster print.
Matching styles make for a great looking combination of prints to adorn walls in any room.
